Knights-festival in Taufers Castle

10th and 11th May 2008 – medieval festival

Taufers Castle in Sand in Taufers is today one of the best preserved castles in whole South Tyrol. It was built in the 12th century and it was a important station in Tauferer Ahrntal Valley: in the Middle Age the valley was a important trade-route between North- and South Tyrol.

The lords of Taufers Castle were very rich: the copper-mine in Prettau brought them wealth and much life on court.

To give the people of today an insight to the life of then, in Taufers Castle takes place a knights-festival at 10th and 11th May with knights-fights, a Middle Age market, fireworks, jugglers and medieval music. It is an event that Middle Age-friends absolutely don’t have to miss! Particularly because the knights-festival in Sand in Taufers will be the only one in whole South Tyrol this year. The Middle Age festival in Schluderns will not take place this year.
